Title of the Theme Issue
From Roots to New Directions: The Trajectory of Brazilian Dialectology
Guest Editors
Amanda dos Reis Silva (UFRB)
Amanda Chofard (UFBA)
Scope of the Call
Dialectology and Geolinguistics, well-established fields in linguistic studies, have played a fundamental role in the description and analysis of Brazil’s linguistic diversity. This thematic issue aims to gather contributions that engage with the different stages and approaches of Dialectology in Brazil—from its foundational milestones to the contemporary developments stemming from the ALiB Project and other atlases produced in the country.
We welcome original articles that present dialectological and/or geolinguistic investigations, with emphasis on both traditional perspectives and current methodologies. Contributions may include multidimensional approaches, analyses of linguistic data in interface with other areas, and reflections on the social and educational impacts of the field.
The issue seeks to expand the visibility of Brazilian dialectological studies, foster inter-institutional exchanges, and encourage new research in the area. Selected contributions may also integrate the program of INTERAB 14 — 14th International Congress of Abralin, particularly those related to Thematic Symposium 36.
