Cadernos de Linguística approved to join the SciELO Brazil Collection

Cadernos de Linguística has been approved to join the SciELO Brazil Collection. The decision marks a major milestone in the journal’s history and recognizes the quality of the collective editorial work developed since its foundation.

The result has particular significance: among the three journals approved to join SciELO Brazil in 2026 to date, Cadernos de Linguística is the only one in the field of Linguistics.

A highly significant recognition

The Scientific Electronic Library Online—SciELO—is one of Latin America’s leading open-access scholarly communication infrastructures and an internationally recognized reference in the publication, indexing, preservation, and dissemination of scientific research.

Admission to its collection involves a rigorous evaluation process addressing, among other factors, the scientific quality of published research, the consistency and transparency of editorial processes, the composition and performance of the editorial team, publication regularity, the adoption of open-science practices, and compliance with international technical standards.

The approval of Cadernos de Linguística therefore recognizes the strength of an editorial project committed to scientific rigor, openness, transparent peer review, accessibility, and the continuous improvement of its practices.

What this new chapter represents

Integration into SciELO will expand the visibility and circulation of the work published by the journal, make it easier for researchers in different countries to discover its content, and strengthen its position within international open-access scholarly communication.

It will also contribute to the long-term preservation of published content, the interoperability of metadata, and the adoption of increasingly robust editorial and technological standards.

More than increasing the reach of the journal, this new stage will enable the linguistic research published in its pages to circulate more widely, accessibly, and sustainably.

A collective achievement

This achievement has many authors.

Cadernos de Linguística has reached this point because researchers entrusted their work to the journal; because reviewers contributed their time, knowledge, and careful judgment; because editors worked to ensure the rigor and quality of every publication; because Abralin and our partner institutions supported the project; and because a community of readers helped strengthen the circulation and relevance of the work we publish.

SciELO’s recognition is also recognition of the work performed by all these people.

This is therefore not only an accomplishment for the journal or its editorial team. It is an achievement and a source of pride for the entire Linguistics community.

What comes next

The favorable decision now begins the technical process of integrating the journal into the SciELO Brazil platform. At the same time, the editorial team is implementing the recommendations presented by the Advisory Committee and further improving the journal’s policies, workflows, and editorial infrastructure.

Cadernos de Linguística will remain guided by the principles that have shaped its trajectory: open access, transparent peer review, open science, methodological rigor, diversity, inclusion, and the broad circulation of scientific research.

Joining SciELO opens a new chapter. It expands our possibilities, but it also increases our responsibility to authors, reviewers, readers, and the scientific community as a whole.

The linguistic research published here will now be able to travel even further.

To everyone who helped build this journey, we extend our deepest gratitude.
