Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Report (2020-2025)

Introduction

Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a fundamental pillar for scientific excellence and the social relevance of a journal. At Cadernos de Linguística, we believe that a plurality of voices, perspectives, and backgrounds enriches academic debate, drives innovation, and strengthens the community of researchers in Linguistics.

This is the journal's first diversity report, establishing a milestone of transparency and self-assessment. The objective of this document is to present a detailed overview of the composition of our community — authors, reviewers, and editorial team — between 2020 and 2025. From this publication onward, Cadernos de Linguística commits to releasing annual diversity reports, monitoring our progress, and identifying areas for continuous improvement.

The following data reflect the publication period of Volumes 1 to 6.

The data presented in this report demonstrate that Cadernos de Linguística is a journal with strong indicators of gender diversity, robust international participation, and broad national representativeness, including the valuable contribution of Indigenous researchers.

We recognize, however, that the pursuit of equity and inclusion is a continuous process. This report is our first step toward a policy of transparency and systematic data monitoring.

We commit to:

  1. Publish annually this diversity report to track our progress.
  2. Actively encourage the submission of work from underrepresented groups.
  3. Expand the diversity of our reviewer pool, seeking greater representation from all regions of Brazil and from countries in Latin America and the Global South.

We thank the entire community for their engagement and contribution to making Cadernos de Linguística an increasingly plural and inclusive space.
