Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Report (2020-2025)

Introduction

The commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a fundamental pillar for the scientific excellence and social relevance of a journal. At Cadernos de Linguística, we believe that a plurality of voices, perspectives, and backgrounds enriches academic debate, drives innovation, and strengthens the community of researchers in Linguistics.

This is the journal's first diversity report, establishing a milestone of transparency and self-assessment. The objective of this document is to present a detailed overview of the composition of our community—authors, reviewers, and the editorial team—between 2020 and early 2025. With this publication, Cadernos de Linguística commits to releasing annual diversity reports to monitor our progress and identify areas for continuous improvement.

The following data reflect the publication period of Volumes 1 to 6. It is important to note that the data for 2025 (Volume 6) are partial, as the volume is still in progress.

Conclusion and Next Steps

The data presented in this report demonstrate that Cadernos de Linguística is a journal with strong indicators of gender diversity, robust international participation, and broad national representation, including the valuable contribution of Indigenous researchers.

We recognize, however, that the pursuit of equity and inclusion is an ongoing process. This report is our first step towards a more systematic policy of transparency and data monitoring.

We commit to:

  1. Annually publish this diversity report to track our progress.
  2. Actively encourage submissions from underrepresented groups.
  3. Expand the diversity of our reviewer pool, seeking greater representation from all regions of Brazil and from countries in Latin America and the Global South.

We thank the entire community for their engagement and contribution to making Cadernos de Linguística an increasingly plural and inclusive space.
